Margaret A. Grinstead, active volunteer
Margaret A. Grinstead, 90, passed away Monday, Dec. 13, 2021, in Dover. Margaret was born Dec. 7, 1931, in Dagenham, England.
Margaret was primarily a homemaker and mother to her four sons. She previously worked at the Bank of England and the Base Exchange at Dover Air Force Base. Over the years, she enjoyed swimming, playing Scrabble, knitting, sewing, drinking many hot cups of tea, and spending time with her family and friends. She was very active volunteering in the Dover community and was a member of the British Wives Club, the Modern Maturity Center and Holy Cross Church. Margaret was a loving and much-loved mother, grandmother and friend. She will be missed dearly.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Carroll C. Grinstead, in 1988; and two brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by her son, John Grinstead and his wife Janne of Dover; her son, Gary Grinstead and his wife Nancy Dean of Savannah, Ga.; her son, David Grinstead and his wife Cathy of Newark; and her son, Alan Grinstead of Dover; three granddaughters, Caitlin Allen and her husband Tim of Middletown; Marissa Grinstead of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and Laura Grinstead of Easton, Pa.; and a brother, John Murray and his wife Alida of Durban, South Africa.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12 p.m., Monday, Dec. 20, at The Church of The Holy Cross, 631 S. State St., Dover. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. at Odd Fellows Cemetery, 35 Rising Sun Road, Camden. A visitation for Margaret will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., Monday, Dec. 20, at the Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambruso, 1175 S. State St., Dover.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 16 Polly Drummond Road, 2nd Floor, Newark, DE 19711; or Meals on Wheels of Kent County, 1121 Forrest Ave., Dover, DE 19904.
