The Cape wrestling team beat visiting Polytech 66-12 Jan. 19, propelled via seven wins by pin, including Lucas Ruppert at 285, Holt Baker at 120, Andrew Schaen at 138, Jo Jo McLean at 152, C.J. Fritchman at 160, Carson Kammerer at 170 and Alex Taylor at 195.
Josh Alvares won a 15-3 major decision at 126, Mikey Frederick earned a 19-4 tech fall victory at 145 and Dalton Deevey won by decision 9-3 at 220.
Cape also received forfeits at 113 and 132.
The Panthers’ two wins each came by falls – Nate Lloyd at 106 and Greg Long at 182.
“Every team is dealing with injury and sickness issues,” said Cape coach Chris Mattioni. “We will wrestle on the road against a very good DMA team this Friday night.”
Cape will then wrestle at Sussex Tech Monday, Jan. 24, before hosting Sussex Central Wednesday, Jan. 26.
