Cape swimming powers past Lake Forest

The Cape girls’ swim team dominated Lake Forest 128-43, while the Vikings boys’ squad swam past the Spartans 116-54 Jan. 21 at the Sussex Family YMCA in Rehoboth Beach.
The Lady Vikings won all 11 events, while the boys took first in 10 of the 11 events. The boys improved to 9-1 on the season. The girls’ squad is now 8-2.

Cape senior Molly Mendes swims the 200 free relay. She and her teammates Heidi Simmons, Samantha Connors and Sophie Schoenfeld took first in the event with a time of 1:59.93.
Cape sophomore Anna Sullivan wins the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:22.03.
Cape’s Dylan Steinwedel pulls ahead of his Lake Forest opponent. His team with Marcus Gromofsky, Kevin Lewandowski and Andrew Criswell took first in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:51.71.

Heidi Simmons swims the breaststroke leg of the 200 medley relay. She and teammates Jenna Reinhold, Alissa Silva and Gabby Robertson took first with a time of 2:14.18.
Samantha Connor swims a leg in the 200 free relay. She and teammates Heidi Simmons, Molly Mendes and Sophie Schoenfeld won with a time of 1:59.93.
