Christopher M. Wagner, cherished family, friends

April 15, 2022

Christopher M. Wagner, 40, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 13, 2022,  at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born Dec. 27, 1981, in Ephrata, Pa., son of Marie A. (Szymanski) and the late Gregory L. Wagner.

Chris graduated from Delaware Technical Community College in May of 2017, earning his associate’s degree in nursing. He worked at Beebe Healthcare in the emergency department, where he made countless friends and left an impression on all he encountered.

Chris was an avid fishing and surfing enthusiast. He earned his captain’s license, and was proud to fish with his family and many friends aboard the Marie Ann. Chris was well known in the Lewes and Rehoboth areas after working in several restaurants, including Heirloom, the Purple Parrot, Blue Moon, Fish On and the Frogg Pond.

Chris appreciated the good things in life: love, family, friends, good food and drink. Above all, he cherished time spent with those he held most dear. Chris was a wonderful and dedicated husband, son, brother, uncle and friend. Loved by many, he will be deeply and genuinely missed by all who knew him.

Chris is survived by his loving wife, Julie Cullen of Rehoboth Beach; his mother, Marie Wagner of Rehoboth Beach; his brother, Nicholas Wagner (Bryana) of Newmanstown, Pa.; his father-in-law, Mike Cullen (Cathy Pursell) of Dover; his mother-in-law, Pam Zickafoose (Tom) of Dover; his brother-in-law, James M. Cullen III (Galen) of Magnolia; his sister-in-law, Olivia Hansen of Dover; his niece, Oakleigh Wagner of Newmanstown, Pa.; his nephews: Bennett Wagner of Newmansport, Luke Hansen of Dover and Jamin Cullen of Magnolia; and last but not least, his fur babies: Lola and Bodhi Wagner of Rehoboth Beach.

Per Chris' wishes, the family plans a future celebration of life with the intent of raising money to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Chris' memory to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, givenow.lls.org/give/342.
