Francis W. Holland, retired police officer
Francis W. Holland, “Dutch,” 77, of Millville, passed away Friday, Sept. 30, 2022, while receiving hospice care at ChristianaCare, Wilmington Hospital. He was born in Baltimore, Md., Sept. 13, 1945, son of the late John Holland and Catherine M. Holland (McManus).
Francis was a proud veteran, having honorably served in the U.S Navy. After his honorable discharge, he married the love of his life, Carolyn F. Holland, Feb. 25, 1967, and together they shared 55 years of marriage. Francis enjoyed a lifelong career with Anne Arundel County Police Department, retiring as a corporal after many dedicated years.
He had many and varied interests and hobbies. Francis was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing. He loved his dogs and enjoyed target practice at the range. Above all, Francis enjoyed time spent with those he held most dear. He was a loving and devoted husband and father. Loved by many, he will be deeply and genuinely missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents. Francis was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Douthit; his twin brother, Neil Holland; brother, Johnny Holland; and brother, Ronald Holland. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn Holland, a long-term resident of Berlin Nursing Center; his daughter, Crystal "Crissy" Holland and son-in-law Eric Heller of York, Pa.; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and his devoted dog, Duke.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 6, at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Clarksville Chapel, 34874 Atlantic Ave., Ocean View, where friends may call beginning at 2 p.m. Burial will take place at noon, Friday, Oct. 7, at Glen Haven Memorial Cemetery, 7231 Ritchie Hwy., Glen Burnie, Md.
