Shrimpy’s to host encore show with Lisa Graff, the Gone Boys Nov. 1

For those who missed the sold-out debut of “The Schoolgirl, the Scandal and the Scoundrel, or Everything I ever wanted to know in life, I learned as a waitress,” Lisa Graff and the Gone Boys have secured a second show date Tuesday, Nov. 1, at Shrimpy’s.

“There was so much energy in the audience, and the Gone Boys and I were thrilled that so many people came. Now we are excited to have another opportunity,” said Graff.

Attendee Rich McGreal said he knew every song except one. He later learned it was an original song that Terry Plowman wrote, titled “Danger.”

The challenge was choosing songs that fit the script, said Graff: “Terry inserted that song into my script so that it followed my tagline, ‘Now I think I’m in big trouble.’”

“There was a perfect balance of music and performance,” said Pam Meador of Lewes. “I loved every word, every note, and everyone had so much fun!”

Shrimpy’s owner Ron Zseltvay was on hand to deliver food to a packed house; he said he stopped and laughed when Graff described the antics she observed when working in the restaurant business. Shrimpy’s has been in operation for 14 years.

Zseltvay began his business as a carryout near the Rehoboth bandstand. He said, “I was originally a land developer of waterfront properties in the Annapolis area. My business partner Ray Sonderfan owned a restaurant and bar in Boonton, N.J. Jim [Clarke] was an engineer working for several beer companies over the years. We believe that music and entertainment can help put a smile on someone. Creating a space to forget your worries is important!”

Terry Plowman, publisher of Delaware Beach Life magazine, said, “Working with Lisa on this project was a unique collaborative experience. It was fun to discuss the song selections and to work out how her story and the music fit together. We look forward to an encore performance so others can enjoy the project."

Shrimpy’s restaurant hosts many entertainers and gatherings such as card players, Red Hat Society groups, homeowners associations, the local Corvette Club, and the Rehoboth Beach Writers’ Guild. Zseltvay can be reached at 302-313-5124.
