Anthony Michael Parillo Sr., avid outdoorsman

Anthony Michael Parillo Sr. (Tony), 89, of Seaford, ended his journey at home Sunday, Oct. 9, 2022, with his family by his side. Tony was born Feb. 11, 1933, in New Haven, Conn., son of Pasquale and Frances Parillo.

He attended Lovell Elementary School, completed his high school education, and went on to attend Connecticut School of Electronics. He continued taking additional courses at New Haven College. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1952 and served honorably as an aviation electrician's mate during the Korean war.  He was stationed at Hickam Naval Air Force base Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. His final duty station was at NAAS Barin Field, Foley, Ala., where he was honorably discharged Dec. 7, 1956. He continued to serve in the naval reserve until 1960. 

Tony married his bride, Evelyn, July 21, 1956, in Lucedale, Miss., enjoying 66 years of marriage.

Tony’s civilian career included numerous start-up companies that he personally managed and helped to become financially successful. His expertise in electrical engineering and quality control made him a valuable asset to the many companies that he assisted. He retired in 1993.

Tony was a life member of VFW and was currently with Post 4961. He was also a member of the Seaford American Legion Post 6, and the Elks for 51 years. Tony was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Laura Atwood; his brothers Pasquale and Peter Parillo; and his sister Rose Basilicato. He leaves behind his wife, Evelyn Parillo; and his son, Anthony Parillo Jr. and his wife Mary. He is survived by his sister, Diane Striby of Clinton, Conn.; as well as his grandchildren, Anthony Atwood of Ivoryton, Conn., Amber Kenny of Wethersfield, Conn., Christopher McGlew of Dover, N.H., Jessica Parillo of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Melissa Ayers of Middleburg, Fla.; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 20, at Crossroad Community Church, 20864 State Forest Road, Georgetown. Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Service will be officiated by Pastor Rick Betts.

Final care for Mr. Parillo has been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, 202 Laws St., Bridgeville.
