To mark October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Stockley Tavern hosted its third annual fundraiser Oct. 22 to benefit the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition.
The organization works to support women and men from diverse communities who have recently been diagnosed with or are currently battling breast cancer in Delaware. DBCC helps people with low incomes and those with little or no insurance receive free or reduced-cost care.
Stockley Tavern held a Delaware Cornhole tournament, guest bartender competition, silent and live auctions, 50/50 raffle and more, and raised a total of $98,000 for the breast cancer coalition.
Connie Holdridge, DBCC program director for Sussex County, said, “We can’t do what we do without the support of generous people and businesses like you. The vision of the agency is to create a community where every person diagnosed with breast cancer becomes a survivor, and fear and doubt are replaced with knowledge and hope.”
Event organizers would like to thank guest bartender teams: Nate Benson with Tony Banks, Lance Mears with Jesse Long, Josh Wharton with Will Klemkowski, “Bronco” Barry Adkins with Gino Giuliano, and Rob Meding with Shannon Morris and Max Robichaud.
Stockley Tavern matched the winning tips from Adkins and Giuliano from Preston Boulevard Ford in Georgetown and Lewes in the amount of $10,208.
According to their Go Fund Me account, the Pink Ink Team members, which include the winning bartending team, have committed to getting a pink frog tattoo to commemorate their win.
Thanks also go to the following companies for their generous donations and participation: Preston Automotive Group; Melvin Joseph Construction; Melvin Joseph Sand & Gravel; Stockley Materials; Mr. Mulch of Seaford; Iron Source; Bi Rite Auto Sales; First State Crane; TidalHealth; Bergey’s Truck Center; Community Bank of Delaware; NKS Distributors; Wesley Collins Builder; Schell Brothers; Schiff Farms; Jefferson, Urian, Doane & Sterner, P.A.; RSC Landscaping; Sysco; The Voice Radio Network; Stateline Machine; the Good Ole Boy Foundation; Meding’s Seafood; JD Shuckers Georgetown; Bill Slayer Sportfishing; Roberts Septic; M&T Bank; Reit Lubricants; NAPA Auto Parts; Baker’s Hardware; Lawson Products; Beauty Unleashed; 302 Life; Mispillion River Brewing; and Paradise Grill.
