Martha Elizabeth Walker Garner, LD Caulk retiree
Martha Elizabeth Walker Garner (Betty), 89, of Milford, peacefully passed Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2022. Full of faith, she was always pleasant, undemanding and had a remarkable tolerance for adversity. She was loved by many.
Martha retired from LD Caulk, and she was an avid volunteer for Meals on Wheels and the various churches she worshipped at. At age 59, she bravely got her GED.
Originally from Lewes, she was born to Margaret and Horace Murray, and she married Paul E. Walker in 1948.
She is preceded in death by her parents, first husband Paul E. Walker, second husband Robert Garner, brother Richard, youngest daughter Sandy (Walker) Walls and oldest daughter Pat (Walker) Stevens.
She is survived by her children, Paul Walker Jr. (wife Phyllis) of Milford, Thomas (wife Michele) of Magnolia, and Kathy (Walker) Eck of Harrington; and sons-in-law, Michael Stevens of Lincoln, and Walter Walls of Harrington. She had nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and was looking forward to a great-great-grandchild due in May.
She was lovingly cared for by her granddaughter, Pam Stevens Carrow, with whom she resided; grandson Kyle; daughter Kathy; her adored caregiver, Althea Long of CHEER; and many nurses and aids from Amedisys and Seasons Hospice.
Her long and beautiful life will be celebrated at 1 p.m., Monday, Oct. 31, at Short Funeral Services chapel, 416 Federal St., Milton. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A burial will follow at Henlopen Memorial Park in Milton.
