A happy moment at Milton Town Council’s Dec. 5 meeting came when Chief Derrick Harvey announced the promotions of two officers.
First, Cpl. Chris Whitehouse was promoted to sergeant. An eight-year veteran of the Milton force, Whitehouse is the first officer in 11 years to be promoted to sergeant, Harvey said. The sergeant’s role, Harvey added, is to serve as a liaison between the community and the police administration. A fan of Sour Patch Kids, Whitehouse was given a bag by Mayor John Collier as a congratulatory present.
Second, Pfc. Michael Guerreri was promoted to corporal, six months after joining the Milton department from Laurel.
