FOP Share Your Christmas event benefits area family

December 24, 2022

The Delaware Fraternal Order of Police Sussex County Lodge 2, with assistance from Indian River Volunteer Fire Company and Lewes Fire Department, conducted its annual Share Your Christmas gift distribution campaign Dec. 17 for a needy family of two adults and three children, including one child with significant medical concerns.

FOP lodge members rode in fire apparatus from the two companies, going from the staging area at Indian River Station 1 in Oak Orchard to a residence in the Long Neck/Millsboro area. They were escorted by an assigned Delaware State Police motorcycle unit and patrol vehicle along with the fire police, and delivered many Christmas gifts for the children and adults of the designated family.

The campaign came together with assistance from Indian River Volunteer Fire Company President Patrick Miller and Fire Chief Hayden Klinger; Rep. Jeff Hilovsky, R-Millsboro; Sussex County Register of Wills Greg Fuller, president-elect of FOP Lodge 2; Delaware State Police and Delaware State Troopers Association represented by Trooper Patrick Jackson and Motorcycle Unit Trooper Robin Brown; Delaware State Fire Police; and many more.

Organizers truly appreciate all those who worked to make this event possible, including picking out, wrapping and delivering gifts; assembling gift bags; and providing escorts and taking the time to respond to the family’s residence and make this a very special Christmas. The Delaware FOP Sussex County Lodge 2 thanks everyone who sponsors its programs, and assists with this and other events.
