Edna Cecilia Peppelman Belsky, enjoyed traveling, crabbing
Edna Cecilia Peppelman Belsky, resident of Brandywine Assisted Living in Rehoboth Beach, passed away Monday, Dec. 19. She was born March 10, 1921, daughter of Clara Ballentine Peppelman and Francis Peppelman.
She was predeceased by brothers George, Bernard and Francis; and sisters, Catherine, Elizabeth and Isabel.
Edna married Bill Belsky, and together they raised four children in Philadelphia. She is survived by Edna Gentile of Millsboro, William Belsky of Blackwood, N.J., Walter Belsky of St. Louis, Mo., and Robert Belsky of Riegelsville, Pa. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Bill and Edna moved to Almonesson, N.J., in 1959. There they operated the Corner Store. Edna was known for her great hoagies and for giving kids a pretzel stick when they came into the store.
Edna and Bill enjoyed traveling, and two of their favorite places were Puerto Rico and Hawaii. They loved Maryland’s Eastern Shore, where they fished and crabbed the waters of Eastern Neck, Rockhale and Chestertown. Many crabs were caught and Schmidt’s beer drank while they crabbed. Her crab cakes were delicious. The grandchildren always said how much fun it was to go with them and stay at the campground in Duck’s Neck.
Graveside services will be held at noon, Tuesday, Jan. 3, at Hillcrest Cemetery, 500 Delsea Drive, Sewell, N.J.
