Racial justice alliance honors Lewes Elementary students

Jaida White, Eli Craddock recognized for leadership, excellence

The Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice recently honored Lewes Elementary fourth-graders Eli Craddock and Jaida White for their leadership, improvement, effort and excellence. 

Both Jaida and Eli exemplify Lewes Elementary School’s “7 Habits of Learning.” 

Eli’s teacher said he participates in class and is always willing to help his peers. He rises to the challenge in areas of study by always doing his best work, and he is a role model for academic achievement.

Jaida’s teacher said she is always smiling and happy to come to school. Jaida is always willing to help her peers, is conscientious about her work and always does her best. Jaida is a role model for a positive attitude. 

The students received a $20 gift card to Browseabout Books in Rehoboth and the book, "The Highest Tribute: Thurgood Marshall's Life, Leadership, and Legacy," by Kekla Magoon. Browseabout is a sponsor of the award. 

SDARJ initiated the African American Achievement award to recognize students who represent the ideals of leadership, improvement, effort and excellence in their schools. Two students from each school in the Cape Henlopen School District are recognized throughout the school year.
