Four local community organizations gathered at Redner’s Fresh Market in Lewes Jan. 11 to receive donations earmarked for their charities during the grocery store’s grand opening celebration.

Store Director Joe Agosti said during his six years living in Delaware, he has grown to know representatives from the Harry K Foundation, Beebe Medical Foundation, Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware and the American Heart Association, and wanted to share their vision and goals with shoppers.

“It was important for me to be a part of the community coming here,” Agosti said.

Each charity had a set day during the grand opening to host an informational table at the store, Agosti said, and received 5% of Redner Fresh Market’s proceeds for that day.

Donations totaled $4,803 for Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware, $3,909 for the American Heart Association, $3,052 for The Harry K Foundation and $3,301 for Beebe Medical Foundation for a grand total of $15,065.

The Boys & Girls Clubs have 42 locations throughout Delaware and provide places for kids to go for recreation, companionship and growth opportunities. The American Heart Association Heart Walk raises funds each year to save lives from heart disease and stroke, and the Harry K Foundation works to end childhood hunger in Delaware. The Beebe Medical Foundation raises money to help fulfill Beebe Healthcare’s mission to encourage healthy living, prevent illness and restore optimal health to the people in its communities.

Redner’s Fresh Market is located at 24120 Zinfandel Lane, Lewes.
