The Rehoboth Beach Museum will continue its In Their Own Words series with presentations of the late Ada Burton’s oral history created for the museum.
Burton was born in Rehoboth Beach at a time when there was still segregation in Rehoboth. In her oral history, she describes the restrictions placed on Black people during her early years. Burton tells about the schools she attended and discusses what life was like in West Rehoboth in the 1950s and ‘60s.
Burton passed away in 2020, and the Rehoboth Beach Historical Society team is honored to have the chance to share her story with the public this year.
Two programs will be held. An online presentation is set for 7 p.m, Friday, Feb. 10, via Zoom. An in-person screening of Burton’s oral history will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Feb. 17, in the museum’s lecture hall.
Reservations are required for either program. To register, go to rehobothbeachmuseum.org.
