Frederick L. Nelson III, devout Catholic

Frederick L. Nelson III of Lewes died peacefully in his sleep in the early morning of Monday, Feb. 6, 2023. He was the eldest of six children born to Anna E. (nee Freburger) and Frederick L. Nelson Jr., both of whom preceded him in death. Fred was also preceded in death by his brother, Francis. Surviving Fred is his devoted wife, Mary (nee Karwoski); daughter, Laura C. Nelson; son, Peter F. Nelson and wife Emily Nelson (nee Brown); and many other relatives.

Fred was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Ancient Order of Hibernians.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 11, at St. Edmond Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Ave., Rehoboth. Prior to Mass, the family will receive guests beginning at 10:30 a.m. in the church.

The family requests no floral arrangements. Should you wish to honor Fred’s memory, consider making a donation to any veterans’ organization of choice.
