Millman's Celebrates 55 years of serving our local community
2023 marks Millman’s 55th year of continuous service. With steadfast local roots in eastern Sussex County, they have been in business since 1969. There have been several companies over the years that have tried to compete with Millman’s but haven’t been able to thrive in this tight knit community. Gary Chorman, owner/operator of Millman’s, is a lifelong native of Sussex County. A resident of the Lewes/Milton area, he has many deep and valued connections within the community he and his family proudly serve every day. Chorman says that there are nearly a dozen companies in the area that operate by trying to entice local consumers through internet, social media, or even establishing showrooms within strip malls. But one of the major qualities they lack is the sense of community and family, which is a big part of Millman’s Appliances business. Millman’s is one of 79 brands in the world with the most attractive and reputable appliances in their showroom. They are located on Route 9/404, just west of the five points light in Lewes. Millman’s services everything in warranty and even offer an exclusive free ten-year major component warranty for each new appliance they sell. The organization has strong philanthropic core values and helps dozens of local charities. The most notable is their Community Cares Initiative, which for the past 20 years has taken and repurposed used appliances back into the community. Chorman states that from his experience of 21 years as the leader of the Millman’s Appliance team, without a doubt local residents choose their business everyday over others because of their history - both competitively, responsibly, philanthropically, and most importantly.

Millman’s doesn’t disclose the dozens of charities and non-profits they support, as their goal is just to support their community. Chorman says the locals knows what they value as a business, and that’s all they need in terms of recognition. He also noted he’s never turned his back on Millman’s responsibility to help those in need within the community. So, what’s up right now at Millman’s? As spring quickly approaches, there are new renovation projects happening around the area. Their business is perfect for renovation solutions, such as new gas grill, a garage refrigerator/freezer, or a whole new suite of kitchen appliances. Millmans can meet that need with fast, procurement, and easy shopping, whether it be in person or on their website. “Some people have some misaligned notions or perceptions about our local appliance store,” Chorman says. “We price match the National box-stores every nineteen minutes and keep our prices aligned with current market trends, so the idea that shopping at Millman’s will be more costly is simply not true. Just because we are a small local community appliance store does not mean we can’t compete with the national brands.” “Matter of fact,” Chorman states, “We should be your first stop as we are appliance experts. We’re not like department chain stores. They should stick with lumber sales and stay out of specialty areas such as appliances that are better serviced by area experts - including flooring, lighting, cabinetry, electrical and hardware,” he says. “There are far better local options with a much better experience than the box stores are able to offer - with better customer experiences and care to the consumer, with greater selections by experts who know their respective merchandise and can offer valued input to the buying process.
