Kevin Frederic Brooks, loved family, sports, ice cream
Kevin Frederic Brooks, 65, of Lewes, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2023, after a short battle with cancer.
Kevin was born in Bethesda, Md., to Clay and Muriel (Penny) Brooks Feb. 14, 1958, and grew up in Rockville, Md. He attended Peary High School and Frostburg State University in Maryland, where he majored in business administration, graduated in 1980, and also met his wife Cindi. They were married May 1, 1982, in Olney, Md. Kevin went on to work in sales and business development for a number of technology companies, including Xerox and Cartridge Technologies Inc. (CTI), where he ended his career as a federal account manager. He won many sales awards over the years and made lasting friendships with many of the people he worked with.
He raised his family in Rockville, and was a very involved part of the community, as a youth and high school coach for softball, basketball and football. He was also president of the Richard Montgomery High School Booster Club for a number of years, helping to support the sports program and bringing needed equipment and programs to the school.
He loved sports, especially the Washington Capitals and Nationals, and was a Redskins fan for many years. His love of ice cream was legendary, and he always ended the day with a few scoops. Kevin also loved playing golf whenever possible, riding his bike, listening to ’70s music, walking in his Lewes neighborhood, and meeting new people. He talked to everyone, always made sure he said hello and got to know new people whenever possible. He had a positive outlook on life and inspired many to be the best they could be.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Cynthia (Cindi) Brooks of Lewes; his son, Eric Brooks of Boise, Idaho; his daughter, Alison Brooks Miller of Gaithersburg, Md.; his granddaughter, Madison Brooks of Boise; his brother, Bryant Brooks; sisters Cindy Bossert, Linda Bell and Barbara Wilson; and many loving nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life for friends and family will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 11, at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Rockville, Md., with a gathering to follow.
A gathering of Lewes friends and neighbors who are unable to attend will also be held at a later date at the Brooks home in Lewes.
Contributions can be made in his name to the American Cancer Society or Delaware Hospice.
