Cape Gazette Run & Fun Fest to benefit Harry K Foundation May 13

March 29, 2023

The Cape Gazette and neighboring businesses throughout Nassau Commons and the Vineyards will present Run & Fun Fest at the Commons, a day of community engagement and family fun for all, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, May 13.

It all kicks off at 9 a.m. with a 5K run through the Nassau Valley Vineyards and a portion of the Georgetown-Lewes Trail, and continues throughout the afternoon with an all-day festival sponsored by Artesian, NAPA Auto Parts and a growing list of local business supporters.

Attendees can grab a beer from a number of different local breweries and relax in the beer garden presented by Crooked Hammock; sign up for a guided, walking tour through the vineyard; register to play in an all-levels pickleball tournament presented by the Factory Sports Complex; or grab a bite from a variety of food trucks.

Younger attendees will enjoy an on-site petting zoo and pony rides, touch-a-truck, make-and-take kids crafts and more family fun.

Live musical entertainment will feature Kyle Offidani and Spokey Speaky. Kid-friendly prize giveaways will take place throughout the day.

“In addition to offering a fun-filled day for the community, the day’s festivities will also provide support to the Harry K Foundation,” said Tara Marks, event director.” We are so proud to be serving this great community and hosting this event gives us not only an opportunity to engage with our readers, but also to share in that experience with our neighbors here at the Commons while raising money to help alleviate food insecurity for the children of Delaware.”

Awards and post-run festivities directly follow the race. Runners will receive a T-shirt, beer ticket presented by Crooked Hammock and refreshments presented by Redner’s Fresh Market. For registration links for the 5K race and pickleball tournament, go to runandfunfest.com. Non-running festival attendees are encouraged to check a timeline of events on the website as many activities are happening at different times throughout the day.

The entrance to the event will be located at Nassau Commons Boulevard, behind Redner’s Fresh Market. There will be plenty of parking at the event with signage and traffic attendants to direct attendees. This is a rain or shine event.
