Longtime attorney’s life coach practice making a difference
When attorney and Bethany Beach resident Eric M. Doroshow decided to semi-retire from the active practice of law, he looked for a way to use his life experiences to help others.
He found a second act that he hoped would make a difference and became a master certified life coach.
Doroshow’s work is all about understanding the challenges of his clients, having a non-judgmental dialogue, asking the right questions and guiding them to where they want to be.
It’s all about the clients and their success. “I work with clients to come up with common-sense, practical solutions,” Doroshow said.
One thing Doroshow stresses to all his clients is to focus on getting better a little each day. Over time, that pays off. “It’s a lot like money compounding in an account. One success feeds on the next one,” he said.
Doroshow’s clients vary greatly. For instance, he coaches a young college graduate in her first job and helps her navigate the sometimes-confusing requirements of the real world. He works with young professionals who are looking for guidance in finding a good work-life balance, and helps other clients review prospective career choices. One client is an entrepreneur looking to grow his businesses, and another is a professional who is close to retiring. He works with all his clients to make them more efficient and effective at work.
“Retirees can benefit from coaching just as much as a startup founder or a professional just starting their career,” Doroshow said. “It can be overwhelming to have the retirement world in front of you. A good coach can provide needed perspective.”
Doroshow said, “You may have a vision or dream, but going form point A to point B can be a challenge and is often overwhelming. Having a trusted coach can provide insight into your goal and help you move forward.”
Doroshow and his clients will often read a book together and discuss a chapter during each session. James Clear’s bestseller, “Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones,” is a favorite.
