Keep Delaware Beautiful and libraries lend litter cleanup kits
Keep Delaware Beautiful and Delaware Libraries announced a new partnership to help Delaware residents keep their communities clean.
The program, called Check Out & Clean Up: Litter Clean Up Lending Program, will equip Delaware libraries with cleanup kits that can be checked out just like a library book. Each litter kit contains everything needed for a litter pickup: two safety vests, two litter grabbers, two trash bags and a cleaning wipe. This program provides a perfect opportunity to obtain service hours as well as a great hands-on way for families, homeschool groups, youth groups, scouts or individuals to care for their neighborhood.
Keep Delaware Beautiful encourages participants to take before-and-after pictures of their cleanup efforts and upload them to keepdelawarebeautiful.com/library. Photos may be featured on Keep Delaware Beautiful’s social media pages.
“Every piece of litter removed is one less piece littering our state. We are so excited to launch this program in partnership with Delaware Libraries; this program will provide access to tools for every Delawarean that is interested in helping to Keep DE Litter Free. Together we will keep Delaware beautiful,” said Julie Miro Wenger, Keep Delaware Beautiful executive director.
The Delaware Library of Things, available through delawarelibraries.org, enables anyone with a library card to check out fun and useful gadgets, tools, games, equipment and now litter cleanup kits.
“We appreciate the partnership with Keep Delaware Beautiful to provide additional resources for Delawareans which support community improvements,” said Dr. Annie Norman, state librarian, “The Keep Delaware Beautiful initiative is a point of pride for communities and for libraries, too!”
