Lord Baltimore Lions sponsor drug awareness and prevention efforts

April 28, 2023

The Lord Baltimore Lions Club supports drug awareness and prevention education in public schools.

The Lions recently sponsored a drug awareness poster contest at Selbyville Middle School for seventh graders. The six winners who each received $50 and an art kit are Emily Jimenez Calles, Madison Durstine, Madelyn Faucett, Brayden Robinson, Talia Moutcalias and Cyrus Fleming.

But club members believe more can be done. Studies indicate that 80% percent of learning achieved is through vision. Posters with drug awareness messages are a good way to reach students in school.

The Lord Baltimore Lions Club presented a $200 donation to Vice Principal Barkley Heck at Lord Baltimore Elementary School to be used to purchase drug awareness posters. The school personnel will identify commercial sources for professional drug awareness posters suitable for their students, and the Lions will pay for them.

This offer may extend to other elementary schools. If more than one school uses this idea, they could exchange posters after several months to present fresh new messages to the students.
