Acoustic duo Kindred Spirits to perform June 4
Old Christ Church in Laurel will host a free concert by the acoustic duo Kindred Spirits at 3 p.m., Sunday, June 4, sponsored by the nonprofit Old Christ Church League.
Kindred Spirits comprises Steve and Ali Quillen, who perform a rich and eclectic variety of Americana and Celtic music, ranging from bluegrass and traditional tunes and ballads to classic American pop standards. They also perform original compositions that resonate with time-honored folk and Celtic influences. Their sound features fiddle, guitar, banjo, and male and female lead and harmony vocals.
Built in 1772, Old Christ Church is one of the oldest wooden structures of its type still standing in the United States. It has paneled walls, a barrel-vaulted ceiling and wood box pews that were typical of the pre-Revolutionary era when it was built. The church is located on Chipman's Pond, about two miles east of Laurel at the intersection of Christ Church and Chipman's Pond roads.
