If you have a chance this weekend, or even through the end of next week, head out and enjoy these two staples of the summer on the Delmarva Peninsula.
Other featured events this week are being held in towns and municipalities throughout the area, so please keep scrolling below to learn much more about what's happening over the next few days at and near the coastal region.
Have a great weekend everyone!
2023 Delaware State Fair (July 20-29)
Delaware's largest annual event kicks off on Thursday, July 20, in Harrington and runs through Saturday, July 29, at the state fairgrounds on U.S. 13.
The always popular agricultural exhibits will once again be a large part of the 10-day event, along with carnival rides, grandstand shows, a huge selection of "fair food" and interesting activities for young and old alike.
Some of the highlighted events for 2023 include the always popular racing pigs, a busy midway with rides and games, a nightly parade, a circus, a camel show, and nightly concerts that this year include Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias, Nelly, Jackson Dean, Tyler Hubbard, and a special 90s night with Vanilla Ice, Tone Loc, Young MC, and more.
Admission to the state fair is $10 for adults and $5 for children between 6 and 12. Children 5 and under are admitted for free. There are also dates when certain age groups are admitted for free or for discounted prices, which can be viewed here.

Chincoteague Pony Penning (July 21-29)
The actual pony swim across the Assateague Channel doesn't occur until Wednesday, July 26, but the annual carnival and other events kick off on Friday, July 21, and run through Saturday, July 29.
The nightly carnival runs from 7 to 11 p.m. and features rides, games, food, live music, raffles, and more. The carnival grounds are located at 3648 Main Street in Chincoteague.
The pony swim will be held on July 26 between 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. The actual time will be determined closer to the event and will depend on tides, the weather, and other factors.
There's no fee for watching the annual pony swim but plan on getting there as early as possible in order to obtain a good viewing spot.
This is the 98th annual pony penning event in the town of Chincoteague. Learn more by watching the Chincoteague Chamber of Commerce video of a previous event below or by visiting chincoteaguechamber.com.
