Local skimboarder and world No. 5-ranked pro Sydney Pizza of Alley Oop Skim Camp hosted an all-girls skim clinic Aug. 2 on St. Louis Street in Dewey Beach. A group of 12 girls learned the finer points of skimboarding from Pizza, along with world No. 1 Chabe White of Oxaca, Mexico, and world No. 4 Julia Diaz of Sununga, Brazil.
“I think the clinic was a hit,” said Pizza. “All the girls had the biggest smiles on their faces, and we got to show them some of the skim community love while sharing knowledge that we have all garnered over the years. It was also great to get some quality girl time in the mix of a busy summer.”
The pros will be showing off their skills at the 2023 Zap Pro/Am World Championship of Skimboarding Friday to Sunday, Aug. 11 to 13 on McKinley Avenue in Dewey Beach. For more information, go to tinyurl.com/5dfp4dud.
