Mr. and Mrs. James A. Kelley celebrate 50th anniversary

April 27, 2012

Mr. and Mrs. James A. Kelley of Lewes will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, April 28. Jim, from the western mountains of Maine, and Mimi, from Boston, Mass., met in Manchester, N.H., on a date with mutual friends. They were married in 1962 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Concord, N.H.

Their journey together took them to Worcester, Mass.;  Southport, Conn.; and Pittsburgh, Pa. before they landed in Lewes following Jim’s retirement. Earlier this month, the couple checked off an item on the top of Mimi’s bucket list with a cruise through the Hawaiian Islands.

In addition to traveling, they enjoy golf, tennis, relaxing on the beach and entertaining friends and family. Two of their four children, Michael Kelley and Jan Fleming, live locally, and account for three of the couple’s nine grandchildren. The other children and grandchildren reside in California and Massachusetts.

Each July, the entire clan convenes at Jim and Mimi’s Lewes home for a week of fond family chaos, from which they generally recover by Labor Day!
