Georgetown man dies in Route 9 crash
A Georgetown man died Nov. 26 following a single-car crash on Route 9 near Georgetown.
Bernardino Perez-Garcia, 26, was driving a Hyundai Sante Fe at 1:17 a.m. eastbound on Route 9 near Fawn Lane when, police said, the vehicle exited the south edge of the roadway for unknown reasons. The vehicle then collided with a tree and caught on fire. Perez-Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene.
The roadway was closed for about four hours to investigate the crash and clear the roadway.
The Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this incident. Troopers ask anyone who witnessed this crash to contact Sr. Cpl. J.
