Good Ole Boy Foundation stages living nativity

The Good Ole Boy Foundation presented its annual living nativity Dec. 22 on The Circle in Georgetown. The event was highlighted by testimonials and a candlelight service.

Five years ago, the Town of Georgetown passed an ordinance prohibiting unattended private displays on public property, and a Georgetown Wesleyan Church lighted nativity scene that had been set up on The Circle for years had to be removed. It was restored and found a new home at The Shepherd’s Office on North Bedford Street in Georgetown.

Foundation members refused to let the action go unanswered, and they rallied the community to stage its first living nativity in 2019. For the past four years, the display was set up and removed each night.

The Good Ole Boy Foundation, based in Millsboro, was founded to mobilize the community in an effort to unite resources and assist families in their time of unforeseen difficulties, including illness, fires, financial hardships and accidents. Among the initiatives the foundation supports are Christmas grants for youth organizations and the Seniors Matter Project.
