Milton man pleads guilty to underpaying taxes on more than $1 million

A Milton man pleaded guilty Feb. 13 to a tax charge after officials say he made more than $1 million but only claimed to have made about $12,000 in income.

According to court documents, the former owner of a Seaford drug rehabilitation center, Amir Mohamed, 58, of Milton, underpaid his 2021 taxes when he failed to declare on his federal tax returns all the income he received in calendar year 2021. He stated his taxable income for Addiciton Medical Facility LLC was about $12,000 when it was more than $1 million, said David C. Weiss, U.S. attorney for the District of Delaware. 

Mohamed pleaded guilty in federal court to one count of making false statements on a tax return. He faces a maximum of three years in prison when sentenced on June 27.

“Amir Mohamed’s scheme to evade taxes for the purpose of lining his own pockets was a theft from the American public,” Weiss said in a statement.
