‘When the Angels Left the Old Country’ author talk set May 22
The Lewes Public Library, Seaside Jewish Community and CAMP Rehoboth will welcome author Sacha Lamb for an online conversation about their book, “When the Angels Left the Old Country,” at 5 p.m., Wednesday, May 22, online via Zoom.
Lamb’s queer immigrant fairytale explores individual purpose, the fluid nature of identity, and the power of love to change and endure.
“Sacha Lamb has pulled from immigration history, labor movement history and Jewish tradition to create a novel that incorporates elements of fantasy and LGBT identity,” said Enid Zafran, SJC book group leader. “They have merged reality and fiction, and written a story that was awarded top honors from the Jewish National Book Group and from the American Library Association's Rainbow Round Table. Their writing speaks from the heart and reaches out to a universal audience.”
Lamb will be in conversation with SJC member and local book group founder Marsha Levine.
Registration is required, and participants will be asked to select virtual or in-person attendance. To sign up, go to tinyurl.com/zoomwithauthors or call 302-645-2733.
A 2018 Lambda Literary Fellow in young adult fiction, Lamb holds a degree in library and information science and history from Simmons University. Lamb lives in New England with a miniature dachshund mix named Anzu Bean. “When the Angels Left the Old Country” is their debut novel.
Participants are encouraged to support the author by purchasing a signed copy of the book from local independent bookstore Browseabout Books. Copies will also be available for purchase and signing at the event.
