Diane B. Pittman, treasured her family
Diane Blimline Pittman, 80, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2024, as the result of an automobile accident in Hilo, Hawaii.
She was born June 22, 1943, in Baltimore, Md., to Bernard Blimline and Eleanor (Williams) Blimline. Diane was a 1961 graduate of Mount de Sales Catholic High School for Girls in Catonsville, Md. She was a 1966 graduate of Towson State, where she earned a bachelor's degree.
She married George Pittman in 1967 in Baltimore. She taught school until their first daughter Susan was born in 1967. Their second daughter Elizabeth arrived a few years later. The family moved to Hampton, N.H., in 1980. Diane started a small business (Yankee Cross Stitch) in North Hampton, which she successfully ran for over 30 years. Upon retirement, Diane and George moved to Lewes to be closer to family.
Diane is survived by her husband of 57 years, George; daughter Susan Pittman, daughter Elizabeth Pittman Whitney and her husband Terence Whitney; grandson, Aidan Whitney; sisters Yvonne Blimline and Janet Bledsoe; and brother Stephen Blimline.
Diane will be remembered as a warm, fun and engaging person. She treasured her family and friendships. She was passionate about traveling, and over the years visited China, Australia, New Zealand, France, United Kingdom, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Croatia, Egypt and South America. She also loved gardening and reading.
A celebration of Diane's life will be held from 12 to 4 p.m., Saturday, June 22, at the Villages of Five Points Clubhouse, 17339 N. Village Main Blvd., Lewes. She will be eulogized around 1 p.m. We welcome her friends and family to join us and share stories of our beloved Diane.
