The Shaffer Family Foundation will present the third annual Rally for Our First Responders from 12 to 6 p.m., Saturday, June 1, at Hudson Fields near Milton; gates open at 11:30 a.m. Rain date is Sunday, June 2.
All are welcome; admission is $10 per person, and children age 12 and under enter free. A VIP option is available for $20.
Jimmy Hoppa of WBOC-TV will serve as emcee, and Hudson Fields owner Christian Hudson will kick off the event, with Cape student Sidney Caldwell singing the national anthem. Funds will be raised through live auctions and a 50/50 raffle, no need to be present to win. Rally shirts will be sold, with 100% of proceeds benefiting first responders.
The event will raise money for 12 nonprofit beneficiaries: Sussex County Paramedic Association, Lewes Fire Department, Milton Fire Department, Georgetown Fire Company, Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company, Indian River Volunteer Fire Company, Fit 4 Duty Foundation, Delaware C.O.P.S., Delaware State Police/Camp Barnes, Friends of DSP Aviation, Beebe Medical Foundation and Delaware Crime Stoppers.
Informational displays and demonstrations will be offered including fire trucks and other first responder vehicles, bomb squad equipment, DSP Scuba Team and Aviation Unit, Beebe Community Mobile Health Clinic, K-9 demos, DUI simulator and more.
Live music from the ‘70s, ‘80s and early 90s will be performed by The Jimmies, 80's Flashback Band, 3 Hour Tour Band and Atomic Light Orchestra. Children’s activities include 10 inflatables, pony rides, petting zoo, face painting and Pursuit for Peace Princesses. Adults can enjoy a car show hosted by Modded Familia, professional and social cornhole tourneys presented by Delaware Cornhole, food and dessert trucks, Revelation beer, wine and cocktails from Easy Speak Spirits, and more.
