Long Neck Sunrise Rotary donations total nearly $33,000
Long Neck Sunrise Rotary Club recently completed distribution of proceeds from its annual charity golf tournament. In its fiscal year ending June 30, the club donated $32,960 to local organizations as well as to Rotary International’s Global Polio Eradication Initiative and special international causes.
Funds donated and beneficiaries include: $8,000 for four Service Above Self Scholarships awarded to graduating seniors at Sussex Central High School; $3,800 for monthly birthday bash celebrations that present children attending the Oak Orchard Riverdale Boys & Girls Club with $25 gift cards in their birthday month, and all children with a cupcake and juice; $6,460 for the Rotary Reads Program serving all students at Long Neck Elementary with the book “Do You Remember” by Sydney Smith; $1,500 to Long Neck Elementary for its outdoor classroom; $2,000 to Literacy Delaware to support adult literacy; $1,200 to the Oak Orchard Riverdale Boys & Girls Club to use for motivational pizza parties; $2,500 to the Great Futures Fund to support the addition to the Oak Orchard Riverdale Boys & Girls Club; $500 to Rotary International’s Polio Plus program to eradicate polio; $500 to Beebe Healthcare; $500 to Bayhealth; $1,500 to Warrior Community Connect to support its work with veterans; $1,000 to Mid-Sussex Rescue Squad; $1,000 to Indian River Volunteer Fire Company; $1,000 to Tunnel to Towers Foundation supporting veterans and first responders; $500 to Maui wildfire relief; and $1,000 to Rise Against Hunger.
