Duffle Bags and More raises $1,000 to support youth in foster care
Local nonprofit Duffle Bags and More Inc. held its second annual fundraiser July 3 at G. & E. Hocker’s Supermarket in Bethany Beach.
Fundraising chairperson Vivian Goodman said she and her daughter Carla were overjoyed with the response of shoppers stopping by the display table. Many shoppers bought more than one of the variety of handmade toiletry bags that can be used for school, cosmetics or beach supplies.
By day’s end, Duffle Bags and More raised over $1,000, with 100% of the proceeds going directly into purchasing materials and supplies to continue sewing duffle bags for children in foster care throughout Delaware and for others in need of assistance.
Goodman said, “Duffle Bags and More sincerely appreciates all who supported this fundraiser by purchasing bags or making a financial donation.”
Duffle Bags and More Inc. was created as a 501(c)(3) organization with the stated mission of volunteering time and talents to provide sturdy duffle bags and additional support for children in the foster care system. The organization also embraces projects to support children and adults in need in the community.
