Jordan Elizabeth Oswinkle, ambitious, independent woman

Jordan Elizabeth Oswinkle, 30, passed away unexpectedly Monday, July 15, 2024, at her residence in NYC, N.Y., She was born Sept. 26, 1993, in Towson, Md. 

Jordan attended both elementary and middle school in Narragansett, R.I. She played in the surf, ran on the beach, and cultivated many friendships during these early years. She graduated from the Prout School in Wakefield, R.I., as an honor and baccalaureate student in 2011. While attending Prout, Jordan played four years of varsity lacrosse and was Academic All-American in 2009-11, All Division in 2009-11, and a member of the Rhode Island State Championship Team in 2009. In addition, she was a three-year girls varsity basketball player, and a member of the 2011 State Championship Team, and RIIL All-Tournament Team in 2011.

After graduating, she continued her education at the University of Delaware, where she graduated with honors in 2015. She was an active member of Alpha Xi Delta and Women in Business. She would often say about her time at UD, "It was worth every penny, one of the best experiences of my life." While in college, she interned with Enterprise. Within a short period, she moved into a sales position in the pharmaceutical field in Nashville, Tenn. During her time there, she achieved many career milestones and won various awards in her field. Jordan spent five years in Music City and enjoyed the music and food of the South. In 2021, she returned to the East Coast for a position in medical sales. New York became her new home. She loved the city, and she was extremely happy to be closer to her family and friends. She reveled in city life, entertainment, culture, fine food, and the walkability of her neighborhood. Recently she became the area business director for Ardelyx.

Jordan had an active career path, and was she ambitious, driven, and cared about executing her work to the highest extent. She had an infectious smile and was warm, kind, giving, loyal, loving, strong, sure of herself, and extremely independent. She enjoyed playing tennis, running, yoga, pilates, attending professional sporting events, seeing beautiful sites, traveling, swimming in the ocean, and laughing. Jordan was loved by many and will be missed by all. She lit up every room she entered and was taken too soon. We will miss the beautiful person she was every day of our lives. 

"The flame that burns twice as bright, burns half as long." Lao Tzu. Jordan’s flame will forever burn in our hearts. She was an amazing daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend to all who knew and loved her. 

Jordan is survived by her parents, Kimberly, and David Oswinkle; her brother, Austin Oswinkle and his fiancée Meghan McGloin; and nephew, Jameson Oswinkle, all of Lewes. She is also survived by her maternal grandmother, Judith Williams of Narragansett, RI; aunt, Holly Williams of Lewes; paternal grandfather, James Oswinkle of Bel Air, Md.; aunts and uncles, Debbie and David Cumberland of Baltimore, Md., Karen and Thomas Seibel of Punta Gorda, Fla., and Susan and Todd Harlacher of Abingdon, Md.; along with numerous cousins and many close friends. 

A funeral service will be held at noon, Monday, July 29, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes, where friends may call beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be private. 

In lieu of additional flowers, the family has chosen to set up a foundation in Jordan's name, where memorial donations can be made in her honor to Trinity-Pawling School, Pawling, N.Y. Mail donations to 700 Route 22, Pawling, NY 12564. Make checks payable to Trinity-Pawling and include Jordan Oswinkle Scholarship on the memo line.
