Grief support available at Cape
After the sudden loss of two Cape Henlopen High School students July 15, the school district and Beebe Healthcare are partnering to offer grief support in conjunction with the sports physical nights.
While an appointment is required for the sports physical, grief support services will be available on a walk-in basis at Cape Henlopen High School from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 1. Services will be offered in a private setting.
Workshop about Cape state park set July 31
The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control will host a community workshop at the Cape Henlopen State Park Officer’s Club from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 31, to give community members and park visitors the opportunity to share feedback about the DNREC Division of Parks and Recreation’s planned capital projects in the park.
Community members can drop in any time during the workshop to review informational display boards for the capital plans in CHSP. Division staff, along with several consulting firms, will be on hand to discuss active park projects that are in the planning and design phases. The plans featured at the workshop are part of the division’s continued effort to improve amenities and services provided to Delaware State Parks visitors.
Projects to be featured at the workshop include: traffic data analysis, entrance reconfiguration, construction of a new park office, the Point Trail, an addition to Battery 519, campground improvements, a beach bathhouse with larger capacity, the Cape Henlopen fishing pier, CHSP’s Wolfe Neck Loop Trail and the Biden Environmental Center.
The workshop will give the public a glimpse of the park’s future. Contractors available at the meeting include architecture firm Bernardon and engineering firms Century and GPI.
The Officer’s Club is located at 14628 Officers Road, Lewes. Parking is across the street in the grass. Park entrance fees are waived for vehicles attending the workshop.
Lewes BPW, Council joint meeting July 29
Lewes Mayor and City Council will hold a joint meeting with the Board of Public Works at 1 p.m., Monday, July 29, at the Rollins Center.
The agenda includes update and discussion of the Pilottown Village road project to include Ocean View Boulevard and adjoining cul-de-sacs. The full agenda and meeting link can be found at lewes.civicweb.net or lewesbpwde.gov.
Lewes council to hold public hearing July 29
Lewes Mayor and City Council will hold a public hearing on conditions for the proposed Henlopen Bluff subdivision at 5:30 p.m., Monday, July 29, at the Rollins Center. The hearing will be an opportunity to ask questions and discuss a corridor buffer waiver request and the interconnectivity to Showfield.
Dewey election officials named
Dewey Beach commissioners voted unanimously July 19 to reappoint Elaine Bole, Marlene Tarr and Kay Sullivan to one-year terms on the board of elections, and to reappoint Rick Baerlein, Phil Winkler, Robert Day, Stephen Eckermann and Susan Trencher as election officials for one-year terms.
