Summer Reading Wrap Party set in Rehoboth Beach Aug. 9

August 1, 2024

The Rehoboth Beach Public Library invites patrons to celebrate their reading achievements during the annual Summer Reading Wrap Party at 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 9, in Grove Park off the Rehoboth Avenue traffic circle near the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal.

Kids can have fun in the sun (and the shade) with snacks, parachute games, inflatable bowling and a free book of their choice from popular series like “Amulet,” “Dog Man,” “Big Nate,” “The Baby-sitters Club” and “The Bad Guys.”

Children's Librarian Shannon Davis said program statistics include 100 children and teens registered for the program at the Rehoboth Beach Public Library, with a total of 685 books read so far, and 26 children and teens having completed the summer challenge of reading at least 10 books.

Every attendee, regardless of age, will receive a raffle ticket. With the summer coming to a close, this will be the last opportunity for kids and teens to earn raffle tickets. Readers aged 11 and under can earn five raffle tickets and a free book by finishing 10 books, while readers aged 12 to 18 can earn this prize by finishing five books, with the understanding that book length and difficulty increase with reading level.

Aug. 9 is the final date to enter the children’s raffle for a variety of fun prizes generously donated by local businesses. Winning tickets for the children’s raffle will be drawn Monday, Aug. 12.

Adults may continue to earn and enter tickets until Monday, Aug. 19, by attending programs and completing activities on the library’s summer adventure bingo cards, such as visiting local landmarks, building sandcastles, spotting wildlife, trying new foods, and of course, reading books.
