Jack Lingo teams wins 30+ and 40+ championships in OC Lax Classic

The OC Lax Classic concluded Aug. 11, with the Jack Lingo 30+ and 40+ squads both taking championship trophies back to their Rehoboth-based programs.

The 40+ champions went undefeated in the championship bracket, defeating Inner Circle 8-3 and downing Tether Marketing 10-8 in the championship.

The 30+ champions also went undefeated in the championship bracket, defeating Dogfish Head 6-3 and downing HD Elite 11-2 in the final.

Several players competed for both Lingo teams. 

“This was one of the best defensive units I have ever played with,” said Lingo 30+ goalie Matt Baran. “[Kyle] Hartzell, Tree [Mike Simon], and Evan [Connell] were able to shut down every attack unit we faced. And all of the defensive middies played incredible transition defense, making it so much easier for us down low. The vets on that 40+ squad flipped a switch come playoff time, and that defense turned it on, making it so much more difficult for Inner Circle and Tether to get good looks on goal. Great communication and team defensive play by all the poles led to the victory.”

“We look forward to the OCMD tournament weekend all year,” said Lingo 30+ midfielder Dan Deckelbaum. “Reconnecting with teammates who have become friends on the Lingo team is awesome. Lingo has had a team for 18 years. We show up, reconnect and the chemistry builds. We had a tough loss to Dogfish last year, so beating them twice at 30+ and winning the championship this year is even sweeter.”
