Taylor Marshall Keen, one of a kind

August 20, 2024

Taylor Marshall Keen, 43, of Lewes, passed away peacefully at home Monday, Aug. 12, 2024, after a six-year diagnosis of breast cancer.

Taylor was born Aug. 14, 1980, at Beebe Hospital in Lewes. She grew up in Lewes and graduated from Cape Henlopen High School in 1998. She attended University of Delaware earning a bachelor’s degree in nursing in 2002. Continuing her studies at Drexel University in Philadelphia, she obtained a Master’s Degree of Science in Nursing in 2010. She began her career as a CRNA at Nanticoke Hospital and later with Beebe Hospital.

Taylor was described by many as one of a kind, a magnetic personality with boundless love for her family and friends; her quick wit and humor will be missed the most. She had a passion for Lewes Beach, and spending time in front of the house that she grew up in alongside her many cousins. She was also a glowing fixture at the Lewes Yacht Club where everyone knew her. Taylor had a successful and fulfilling career as a CRNA, a job where colleagues became family. She had a deep passion for life, which was reflected in her love for entertaining, traveling (especially to Key West, Sanibel Island, and NYC), and spending time with family and friends. Her greatest happiness came from the moments shared with loved ones, creating memories that will be cherished forever. She faced her cancer with unwavering courage, driven by her deep love for her son, Joey. He was her greatest treasure, and her strength and determination were a testament to the love she had for him.

Taylor was predeceased by her parents, Diane Marshall and Thomas Marshall IV. She is survived by her son, Joseph Keen; sister, Meredith Marshall (Norberto Ovide); her brother, Thomas Rowland Marshall V (Bridget Marshall); nephew, Thomas Marshall VI; and niece, Nelly Marshall. Taylor is also survived by her cats, Pippa and Shug, whom she loved dearly.

A Celebration of Life will occur from 1 to 4 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 27, at Lewes Yacht Club.  All who knew and loved Taylor are encouraged to join in celebrating her.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Delaware Hospice or Team Tay, Taylor’s Dewey Goes Pink breast cancer fundraising team.
