Stress relief practices free workshop set Sept. 20

Stress relief practices will be the focus of a free workshop set from 1 to 4 p.m., Friday, Sept. 20, at 3294 Wandering Lane, Lewes. Guided by Lisa Lopez, founder of Living Life Purple, and Lauren Fonvielle, integrative energy practitioner at MindShift With Lauren, attendees will be introduced to several healing modalities to assist in releasing trauma from their bodies. Trauma can impact the body and brain, causing the nervous system to remain on high alert. With supportive methods, healing is possible. In this safe group space, participants will be guided through meditation, breath work, tapping and visualization practices to help reestablish a healthy mind-body connection. Family Promise fall festival set Sept. 22

Family Promise of Southern Delaware will host its inaugural fall festival from 12 to 6 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 22, at American Legion Post 28 pavilion, 31768 Legion Road, Millsboro. Musical entertainment will be provided by the Funsters, The Keith White Duo, Soul Chase and Sticky G. There will be craft vendors and food trucks on site, with a cash bar. Tickets are $20. Kids 12 and under are admitted free. Event proceeds benefit Family Promise programs to help low-income families achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response.

Estate-planning mistakes session set Sept. 23

The Delaware Money School will offer a free class on Common Estate Planning Mistakes from 4 to 5 p.m., Monday, Sept. 23, at Lewes Public Library. Led by instructor Deirdre O’Shea McCartney, Esq., the class covers common estate-planning mistakes and how to avoid them. It will explore some common myths about estate planning and offer suggestions on how attendees can optimize their financial future and legacy for their own and their loved ones’ benefit. Having written, spoken and taught on the subject many times, McCartney breaks down a complex subject to understandable layman’s terms. YMCA sets Healthy Aging Day Sept. 23

The Sussex Family YMCA will host Healthy Aging Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday, Sept. 23, at 20080 Church St., Rehoboth Beach. Resources will feature innovative ideas and opportunities for aging well. Activities are designed to motivate and promote active routines to enhance both mental and physical health at home and out in the community. For more information, go to ymcade.org.

Right whale conservation program set Sept. 23

The Rehoboth Beach Public Library will host a program on right whale conservation at 6 p.m., Monday, Sept. 23, at 226 Rehoboth Ave., Rehoboth Beach. Guest lecturer will be Marcus Reamer, a cetacean expert and doctoral candidate at the University of Miami. North Atlantic right whales are a critically endangered species that will swim past the shores of coastal Delaware this fall. Reamer will discuss these whales, their difficult past, and their more promising future due to conservation efforts. He will also share his research on the human dimensions of whale conservation, including recent work he conducted in southern Delaware.
