There is no doubt that Stell Parker Selby should retain her position as a representative in the Delaware General Assembly. Selby’s total life experiences have more than prepared her for this role of leadership. She was born, raised and educated in Delaware. She experienced every chapter of Delaware’s racial and social justice maturity from segregation to integration. As a lifelong resident of Sussex County, as an educator and political leader, she is very aware of the needs of her community and constituents that she currently represents.
Her platform indicates that she is well informed about overall State of Delaware challenges and will continue to work in her current position in the General Assembly to bring about the change that the state and its residents need to continue to move forward toward a productive, healthy and secure future. Her vision for change is broad; it includes reform and growth in the areas of healthcare, education, environmental preservation, safety and human rights.
Knowledge, wisdom and experience are substantive assets in a leader. Parker Selby possesses these qualities. After a long career as an educator, academic administrator and board member in the Cape Henlopen School District, she has said with great certainty that “as a lifetime educator, I believe that quality education is a benefit to all and is key to our future.” Despite her long involvement in education and politics, Parker Selby found time to serve 16 years on the Beebe Medical Center board, which made her acutely aware of the healthcare challenges we face now and in the future. Her real-life experiences which established her fortitude, strength and determination gave her the wisdom to say, “no person in our democracy should face discrimination on the basis of sex, race, national origin, disability, gender, identity or sexual orientation.”
Stell Parker Selby is experienced, motivated and authentic. She has successfully represented her constituents in District 20 and has risen to the challenge of statewide leadership as evidenced by her voting record as a current legislator in the General Assembly. There is no logical, practical or political reason to oppose her candidacy. I fully support Stell Parker Selby, who has devoted a lifetime of work and activism on behalf of her fellow citizens.
