Greyhounds Reach the Beach celebrates 30 years

October 18, 2024

Rehoboth Beach visitors may have noticed a few Greyhounds on the Boardwalk Oct. 13, as the Greyhounds Reach the Beach group held its annual parade.

This year marked the 30th anniversary of the event, with about 500 people pre-registering and an additional 45 people attending the parade. This year’s theme was Greyhounds Go for the Gold, and it made for some interesting canine costumes.

The mission of Greyhounds Reach the Beach is to provide fulfillment for retired racing greyhounds and other sighthounds and the people who love and care for them. They do this by organizing and hosting this event that offers education, socialization and just plain fun for the greyhound adoption community. They strive to support greyhound adoption groups by providing space for them to raise awareness and funding for their organizations.
