Holiday donation drive for Shepherd’s Office runs thru Dec. 4

Nonprofit that helps homeless, hungry selected as 2024 beneficiary

The Lewes chapter of Polka Dot Powerhouse, a nationwide women’s networking circle, is hosting a holiday drive to benefit the Shepherd’s Office.

The Georgetown-based charity helps the homeless, hungry and lonely.

Providing free, healthy, hot meals and snacks to those in need, the Shepherd’s Office is on track to provide a total of 65,000 meals in 2024.

The group is collecting items including: Healthy, individually packaged snacks; brown lunch bags; napkins; water bottles; can openers; all types of hygiene items; basic cosmetics; socks; T-shirts (all sizes); hoodie sweatshirts; gloves; hats; flashlights and batteries; backpacks; bus passes; hand warmers; rope cords to tie down tents; tarps, small fleece blankets; pens; small notebooks; and bike locks.

Drop-off locations throughout Sussex County include: Summit Community Bank, 18467 Coastal Highway, Suite 101, Lewes; Milton Mail Boxes, 124 Broadkill Road, Milton; Millsboro Public Library, 217 W. State St., Millsboro; and County Bank, 36754 Old Mill Road, Millville.

Donations are being accepted through Wednesday, Dec. 4.
