Deborah J. Mitchell, enjoyed time with family
Deborah J. Mitchell, 62, of Dover, passed away peacefully Monday, Feb. 17, 2025, at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford.
Debbie was born in Milford Sept. 23, 1962, to her parents Elisha Wilkerson and Naomi (Sockriter) Wilkerson.
Debbie grew up in Milton and graduated from Cape Henlopen High School. She was a waitress at the Lamp Post and Crystal restaurants. Debbie enjoyed going to the beach and casinos, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Dick H. Mitchell; children, John P. “J.P.” Schofield, Matthew E. Schofield and Shannon Gates; grandson, Donald Wheeler III; and siblings, Phyllis Lawson, Robert Wilkerson, Wayne Wilkerson and Kenny Wilkerson.
She is survived by her sister, Pat Vent (Snookie); brother, Gary Wilkerson (Tracey); many nieces and nephews; godson, Justin Wheeler; and her faithful companion, Forrest, her cat.
A memorial service will be held at noon, Saturday, March 1, at Short Funeral Services chapel, 416 Federal St., Milton, where a time of visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milton.
