Milford man extradited to face attempted murder charge

A Milford man who had been sought in connection with stabbing a woman Nov. 3 has been extradited to Delaware and charged with attempted murder.

Milford police had sought Derrick Legree, 37, following the stabbing in the 200 block of Tull Way. Police found a woman who had been stabbed, and she was taken to a hospital in critical but stable condition, police said.

After working with U.S. Marshals, police said they located Legree in Philadelphia, and he was extradited to Delaware Feb. 28 with assistance from the Delaware Department of Justice. He was charged with first-degree attempted murder, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, aggravated menacing, possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited, and endangering the welfare of a child. 

Legree was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Department of Correction in default of $622,000 cash bond and an additional $25,000 cash bond for an active violation of probation.  The court also issued no-contact orders between Legree and the victims in this investigation.
