Richard Grundy, retired copywriter
Richard G. Grundy, 82, of Ocean View, passed away Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. He was born in Newark, N.J., Saturday, March 22, 1930, son of the late Frederic and Margaret (Coburn) Grundy. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter Pamela Hancock (2001); and his brother Robert E. Grundy, formerly of Florida.
Mr. Grundy was a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, N.J. His career was as a copywriter for Manhattan Rubber in New Jersey and for the Border Company in Manhattan, N.Y. He enjoyed gardening and could be found building anything he put his mind to do. He was a devoted husband, dad and grandpa.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Peggy Jane (Hodenpyl) Grundy; his son Richard D. Grundy and wife Michelle of Salem, Mass.; his son-in-law, Greg Hancock of Burlington, Vt.; four grandchildren: Hayley Rebecca Hancock of Burlington, and Morgan Elizabeth Grundy, Lyndsay Jane Grundy and Cody Jack Bear Grundy all of Salem; his brother David Grundy and wife Darlene of Montpelier, Vt.; and he was a volunteer grandfather to Sawyer.
All services will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Ocean View.
