RAL announces 'Door of Fame' book launch party May 23

May 16, 2013

The 75th Anniversary year for the Rehoboth Art League has already begun to create excitement at the three-acre campus in Henlopen Acres.  Planning and preparations by volunteers, board and staff members for the many spectacular events and exhibits iare increasing as the June 21 Diamond Celebration date approaches.

The first event will be a special Book Launching Party to be held Thursday, May 23, to present the new edition of the “Doors of Fame” - A History of the Rehoboth Art League.

In 2003 the book was first printed as the "Doors of History."  Author Jann Haynes Gilmore, Ph.D. has championed the work for this second edition, which includes new historical information, a new acknowledgement and introduction by Gilmore, forward by Sheila Bravo, Art League executive director, and a special section titled ’75 Years of Cultural Enrichment in Henlopen Acres,’ written by Richard E. Poole, Esq.

The new book has been expanded from the first printing and also includes additional and recent photos of interest for all who have followed the art league’s support of the arts in Delaware.

The original printing of the book was in paperback. The new edition will be available in a newly designed paperback and a collector’s edition featuring a special dust cover and decorative band. The paperback will sell for $20 and the Collector’s version will be $25. The books will be available for sale at the Rehoboth Art League, Browseabout Books of Rehoboth Beach and at Biblion in Lewes beginning May 23.  Books may also be ordered at rehobothartleague.org.

The public is invited to the "Doors of Fame" Book Launch Party May 23, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Rehoboth Art League’s Corkran Gallery. The doors will be on view during the reception and Gilmore will be available to sign purchased copies of the book. The event sponsor, Hobos Restaurant, will provide hors d’oeuvres.  Wine and music will also be available. Tickets for the event will be on sale at the door for $20 each. Guests will receive a copy of the paperback edition of the "Doors of Fame" (a value of $20) and the paperback, "Homestead - Peter Marsh’s House," along with other gifts. The first 100 attendees will also receive a copy of "Beach Book" by Marvin Carney.
