Six degrees of separation is the theory that everyone and everything is six or fewer steps or associations away from any other person or thing in the world. In other words, a friend of a friend statement could be made to connect any two people in a maximum of six steps.
Well, in Sussex County that theory can be cut in half. A current zoning application being considered by county officials proves my theory that just about everything is connected if you dig deep enough.
Ida C. Faucett, Faucett Heirs LLC and Massey's Landing Park Inc. have filed zoning-change and conditional-use applications to build an RV campground on family land at the end of Long Neck Road. The applications have created a stir in the quiet manufactured home neighborhoods up and down Long Neck Road.
Consider the connections that make the applications a little more interesting.
The Faucetts – an established family in the Massey's Landing area for decades – have two family members who work for Sussex County. And on the other side, Sussex Councilman Vance Phillips has a brother who lives in one of the Pot Nets communities opposing the project.
