Everett 'Skip' Hollingsworth Jr., proud aviator

Everett B. "Skip" Hollingsworth Jr. passed away Friday, July 11, 2014, of a heart attack in the emergency room of Beebe Healthcare in Lewes. He was born in West Chester, Pa. hospital May 4, 1934.

Skip attended Chadds Ford schools in Pennsylvania, Penn State University, Goldey Beacon College and AIB. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force as an intelligence specialist stationed in Greenland. Skip was also a jazz musician who enjoyed playing in pubs around Wilmington.

Throughout Skip’s vast career, he worked at various companies including the Artisans' Bank of Wilmington, the Bank of Delaware in Wilmington, DuPont Experimental Station, the News Journal, the Cecil Whig of Maryland, Aloysius, Butler & Clark and Sheeran Direct Mail and Marketing in Wilmington.

Skip was most proud of earning his private pilot license. Following his retirement, Skip joined the wonderful group on the Cape May-Lewes Ferry on which he enjoyed many trips back and forth on the sea.

He is survived by his wife Ellen L. Hollingsworth; son Robert T. Hollingsworth; sister Joan H. Ryan and brother-in-law, Millard K. Ryan III; and Col. and Mrs. Victor T. Letonoff.

Services will be private for family only. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
