Rehoboth Beach Film Society, Ovations to co-host 'Big Night'
Rehoboth Beach Film Society and Ovations Restaurant & Lounge co-present Cinema Cabaret, a dining and film series. The Friday, Sept. 4 event will feature “Big Night.”
Guests can enjoy a traditional Caesar salad, timpano (just like served in the film) or vegetable pasta served with Italian green beans and garlic bread and a delicious dessert of tiramisu, with a choice of coffee, tea or soda. Serving begins at 6:30 p.m. with the film starting after the entrée is served.
Brothers Primo and Secondo (Tony Shalhoub and Stanley Tucci) own The Paradise, an authentic Italian restaurant in New Jersey in the 1950s. This was a time when the average American’s idea of an Italian restaurant was defined by checkered tablecloths, candles in Chianti bottles, and spaghetti and meatballs served as a side to every meal. In spite of the quality cuisine offered by culinary genius Primo, The Paradise is on the verge of bankruptcy and the brothers are considering moving back to Italy.
Exacerbating the brothers’ predicament is the Italian “grotto” down the street, the always-packed Pascal’s, where only Americanized Italian food is served, much to Primo’s disgust. When Secondo makes an arrangement to have a celebrity visit The Paradise for a multi-course meal, the brothers pull out all the stops hoping the “big night” will save their bistro. Primo prepares and serves a mouth-watering meal that the brothers’ family of friends relish to such a degree they begin to realize the meal is the real star of the evening.
